omg....this is freaky....so the predatory thing wasn't a joke after all..............

orkdorc74: and he doesn't like stanford...>_<
orkdorc74: 100000000 points off for him
Steveie986: ok that's it
Steveie986: confrontation time
Steveie986: the physics gangster shall do a drive by

all of emily dickinson's poems can be sung to either gilligan's island or amazing grace......ms. liu did a nice demonstration for us with this poem, which immediately sets off the rest of the class into singing out of tune:

It sifts from leaden sieves,
It powders all the wood.
It fills with alabaster wool
The wrinkles of the road.

haha try it, it really works

and then in econ, will started some weird, totaly bogus rumor , which unexpectedly ended up confusing half the class at sporadic intervals...lol it was pretty amusing...so then ms. duke comes over and asks what's so funny....will tells her the "rumor" (lol) and ms duke thought it was pretty funny too..haha

ms. duke: will...i think you should stop talking...
will: hey, it wasn't my fault, it's steph's fault!
me: whaaa....
ms. duke: nah, stephanie's too nice to start a rumor

LOL ...*falls over laughing*.....that was awesome

Eager Beaver 614: what do you think of the recent election?
orkdorc74: i think that the "assasination" was a set-up
Eager Beaver 614: *do you think the assissination attempt was a setup?
orkdorc74: HAAH
Eager Beaver 614: whoa
Eager Beaver 614: you read my mind
orkdorc74: that was weird!
Eager Beaver 614: lol
Eager Beaver 614: yea........
Eager Beaver 614: that was weird
Eager Beaver 614: very uncanny

HAHA...that's justin lee btw, i figured out that i know him thru piano or something like that.....MIT, baby (note the sn)!!!!

ok, steve says that i should post this, so i will...lol....before u read tho, kindly keep in mind that this is a PARODY off of Marvell's poem "To His Coy Mistress", (inspired by steve's parody on Eliot's "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"....HIS parody is freakin awesome, go ask him for it) so i am NOT...repeat NOT referring to ANYONE in this parody that i wrote...haha...and btw, it's not talking about a person anyways.......oh and please comment on it, i want to know what ppl think of my attempts at poem-writing...

The Obsessive Musician

Had I but notes enough, and time,
This discord, ______, were no crime
I would sit down and think which way
To win thy favor with amorous play
Thou on your music, line by line
Shouldst love notes find; I by the fine
And pristine notes of Chopin would complain
I’d love you ten years down the lane
And you should, if you please, refuse
‘Till my intonation improves
So through rehearsals, love should grow
I wish they’d last and pass more slow
An hundred years I stared and gazed,
Right at your delicate curves, dazed
Two hundred more I’ll spend with zest
Three thousand years at each chair test
I’ll hear you play the first-chair part
The last concert shall show your heart
For _____, you deserve this state
Nor would I play with lower rate
But at my back I always hear
The old conductor, yelling near
Rehearsal is now almost done
Deserts of infinite sun
Thy solos shall no more be found,
Nor, on the empty stage, shall sound
Your flawless pitch; critics shall try
That long-perfected tone, well nigh
And your brief grandeur turn to dust,
And into despair all my lust
The practice room’s a private place
But locked – in which we shan’t embrace
Now, therefore, while the stage light hue
Is on thy body, brown and new
And while thy gleam of zealous fire
Burns through me like ardent desire
Now let us play soon, while we may
With bright marks on my neck like prey
Let me combine with thee my soul,
Your sweetness goes up to thy scroll
And damn those critics – words of knives! –
I’ll play you throughout our lives
Together we are known as one
Apart, we might well be undone

on friday i also went to this MIT admitted student meeting...it was basically just the MIT alumni talking and answering questions, but they made it sound like a super cool place...i didn't really know anyone there, except this one kid from bellaire, justin lee, whom i've seen before somewhere, but i can't remember where...this other school tho, Booker T. Washington High School apparently had 5 students get into MIT this year....amazing...(by the way, the guy:girl ratio at the meeting was 3:1...hmmm...lol...hey, works for me!...j/p)

so apparently MIT still gives a lot of room for liberal arts courses - they even require each student to choose a specific liberal arts/language, etc.. topic and then take at least three courses in that area...guess what i'm gonna choose! haah not that hard to guess...

i'm kinda excited about MIT i guess....especially since the more i hear about it, the more interesting it sounds, but i suppose that's the way with everything...i liked hearing about the hacks though - which are harmless pranks that MIT students often perpetrate around campus. the best one i've heard so far is about the harvard/yale game: over the period of summer vacations (forgot which year), this MIT kid went and stood on the harvard football field every day(or wutever it was) wearing a black and white striped ref shirt...he would blow a whistle and everytime he did so, he would also throw out birdseed, thus conditioning the birds to fly down and land all over the field everytime they saw a person wearing a black and white striped shirt blowing a whistle.....so on the first day of the harvard /yale game, the ref comes out and blows the whistle, and guess what happens...LOL....apparently it took them 20 minutes to clear all the birds off the field....hahah

i think it'd be pretty fun to be a hacker (in the MIT sense at least)...look out yall

5 more days...being optimistic at least.................

Today was an amazingly productive day in bio…we had a sub, the guy who looks like mr. Wilson who can be kinda mean (the sub, not mr. Wilson)..so ray and me actually WORKED on the study guide today…we finished everything except for the multiple choice!!...even finished those “structure your knowledge” questions that no one ever does…

Nothing else happened today…other than the fact that colin managed to actually get on my nerves today in eco….who the heck does he think I am, his gum/mints provider? Anyways, what an odd week so far….I have so little motivation that I come home and stare at the wall….i even finished the marvell parody!!...i’ll have to show that to u sometime…

Lately, I haven’t been writing in my blog because I don’t have the motivation to write. I just steal…uh..permanently borrow stuff off of other people’s profiles…What is there to write about? Ok, well yes I have stuff to write about, but what IS my motivation for writing it? Who actually reads this thing…..ms. liu brought up an interesting point about blogs and livejournals, etc, saying that they feed your ego….and they probably do, if you think about it – why else do we have the tagboards and the comment boxes? how do we feel when people comment? How do we feel when people don’t?..is it for personal pride?

Veinte presas
hemos hecho
al despecho
del inglés
y han rendido
sus pendones
cien naciones
a mi pies

pride. That’s another thing. Am I prideful, am I arrogant? I don’t know, but I sure can be if you want me to. If you say I am. I’m so sick of rumors being spread about me. At least if you’re gonna spread rumors about me, make them true rumors at least. Seriously, I lose respect for those that do that kind of stuff…that’s probably one of the reasons which I really don’t want to ever go back to that place anymore…and the sad thing is that these rumors are beign spread by people who barely even know me.

Lately I’ve been getting annoyed by various things. Annoyed to the point where I’m about to implode. People at school, people not from school. School-related events, non-school related events…always that feeling of being just outside the circle, always the one who stands at a distance involuntarily…

Pues, aún no. Ven, caminante fatigado a mis pies, estoy a mis rodillas.

Wow i have no idea what i just wrote. Wrote all that without a dictionary too. Sin un dictionario de español. o_O..oh well it wasn’t that hard anyways, especially not after you’ve gone through all the reading and writing that out literature español class has done….mad props to you if you can read all of that without looking up any words or popping that whole little spiel all into one of those online translator things.

So unless anyone at our school is taking the latin vergil or latin literature APs (which I really doubt), on May 14, 2004, apoorva johann chris sarah and me will be the only ppl from AHS taking an AP test. On the last day of APs too! LITERATURA ESPAÑOLA….say that and savor the taste of it. Roll all the ‘r’s off the tip of your tongue, with all its buttery shortbread sabor, and remember it, because that’s all the taste of it that you will get. Stretch out the ‘O’ as it flows out, or else lose it forever. Say it, say it to me, dímelo.

This has got to be the most incoherent blog entry I’ve ever made. I’m going to go do statistics now.

church group was fun last nite....we played mafia for a little bit before it started...someone *cough*STEVE*cough* killed me off on the first round!!!!!...and then he tried to weasel his way outta it by throwing out all this mathematical probability reasoning that threw all of us off...prolly why he didn't get killed off as mafia until literally the last round...HAHA..nice job steve, even tho ur gonna pay for killing me...LOL..j/k j/k

the actual topic of the night was about "posers"...ppl who try to be who they're not just to get approval, to claim attention...basically people who "pose" as somethign that they're not...i really liked how john led the discussion, especially how he integrates in bible verses...it actually makes stuff start to click together

we also did these skit things, where we partnered off and did skits illustrating a characteristic of a poser....and the quote of the night from that is: "Am I swoll??! Am I swoll?!!".....*falls over laughing*, that was just awesome

at the end josh handed out these cards called "hands and feet"...basically it's cards on which there is a bible verse, which u reflect on for a week, and then try to really live it out...i thought it was pretty intersting, i'll give it a try

and also something else: "wallflowers" are AWESOME.....thanks sid!

so with last night, so my spring break ends...i'd have to say, this has been my best spring break ever, thanks yall for making it so fun!!!

prettty tite day so far!

food drive - ran around robinson's landing with punag, sameer, niral passing out paper bags....harish came up to us and dumped a load of paper bags into punag's car which niral promptly threw out again..LOL...it was only like 5 bags tho and i think harish ended up (reluctantly) picking them back up again

ended back up at sid's house....i peeled shrimp and threw out food vocab words at sid while he stir fryed veggies and made his sister exercise and play basketball...haha....his mom helped us with the stir fry a bit, but it turned out reALLY good, plus the chicken...sid's an AWESOME cook (everyone go try his fried rice)!!!!!!

then watched some DRAMATIC telenovelas en español...seriously, we watched 1.5 telenovelas and it was all like some chick cheating on her husband, another slut woman tryign to seduce someone else's fiancee, etc etc....BUT it was in spanish...so that rocked....we also found this show that was a like a jerry springer episode but in spanish...LOL....that's what makes it so much more fun..and the best thing is - with caption, we can actually UNDERSTAND it!! nosotros podemos entenderla!!!..hahahah

and STARCRAFT is a FREAKIN AWESOME game.....it gets reaalllly addicting,...watched sid play several games and then i was hoooked,,kinda hard to understand at first, but it's pretty intense..lots of interesting battle strategy...better than halo!!..hehe.....i left before he actually won a game tho.....sid, i want to play next time....lol

oh wait:
INTENSE sidnia: i won
INTENSE sidnia: lol
INTENSE sidnia: yo gane!!!

hahah nvm, looks like the strategy worked this time

ok immma go practice now...this is getting to be quite a good spring break!

(PS: wow.....i didn't know that you actually figured out who i was referring to......but i'm glad that u liked it, plus if other ppl thought the same way then it prolly does mean something...^_^)

more plans:

yesterday - tennis with heather, brian, will, niral
*highlight of yesterday = will winning 6-2, the possessed plastic Randall's bag that attacked niral (LOL!!)

today - food drive, then estudia español con el SID!....then practice like mad
tomorrow - RICE comp. class baaby! (thanks Miink for the idea, thanks Janice for the ride..=P), museum with HEATHER!!!! :D!!, .....then practice!!!!

lemme ask yall a question:

have you ever looked at (or into) someone's eyes and all of a sudden see such intelligence and wisdom and understanding and everything in those eyes that you have to sit there and catch your breath at what you've just seen?

how many people have you seen like that?

i've only seen one. (oh, not today tho, i'm actually just reminiscing right here). of course, every time i see this person, it's the same intriguing look in the eyes, like it never goes away. it was pretty amazing. it makes sense that this person is going to a balla college. i wonder if this person knows who they are. and then you talk to that person and it only takes 5 minutes before u think to urself "damn this person is a freakin genius"

wish i meet people like that at college, wherever i'll be

Baby we was making straight A's,
But we was stuck in a dumb daze,
Don't take much to memorize your life,
I feel like I've been hypnotisized,
and then that magic man he come to town,
whoo wee,
he done spone my head around,
he said recess is in session,
Two and two make five,
and now baby,
oh I'm alive,
oh yeah,
I'm alive.

Math Week Online Problems (for AHS MAO members only)

* These problems are to be emailed back to me at ciaconna74@yahoo.com no later than 12 midnight on Thursday, March 11. If you are not able to solve all the problems though, just go ahead and email what answers you have (hey, you never know). First 20 people who email me back with the most number of questions correct will be awarded points. Points will be awarded accordingly and announced at the next meeting, March 22. Have a great spring break!
***IMPORTANT NOTE: the problems that were sent to everyone's emails has an error in #5...Emerson ate 10 more pies than Ralph, not 20... sorrie about this error, it's corrected below:

1. To test whether an integer, n, is prime, it is enough to be sure that none of the primes less than the square root of n divide n. If you want to check that a number between 900 and 950 is prime with this rule, what is the largest prime divisor you need to test?
2. The length, width, and height of a rectangular box are each decreased by 50%. By what percent, to the nearest tenth, is the volume of the box decreased?
3. Four standard 6-sided dice are rolled. The product of the four numbers rolled is 144. How many different sums of four such numbers are possible?
4. Bob and Drake are both freshman in college, and have just received back their scores from their advanced differential equations test. Bob is very unorganized and forgot that there was a test that day, so he ended up cramming 15 minutes before the test. Drake on the other hand, is much more responsible and keeps a planner with all the test dates highlighted well in advance. He not only studied 3 hours for this test, but he also spent 2 hours in tutorials to make sure that he completely understood the test material. Ironically though, Bob scored a 78, which was 130% of Drake’s score. What did poor Drake score on his advanced differential equations test?
5. At the previous Mu Alpha Theta meeting, the officers all brought in pies for everyone to eat afterwards, in celebration of “ð Day.” However, some people were extremely hungry and ate all the pies before the other people who waited patiently could even get a slice of pie. Ralph ate 450 slices. Emerson ate 10 more than Ralph and twice as many as Waldo. How many slices did they eat altogether?
6. If each pie could have been cut up into 12 slices, how many pies were there?
7. There actually was one more pie originally than the answer obtained in #5, but during the meeting, one sneaky person stole a pie and ran off quickly. If each pie cost $6.99, and assuming that each officer bought the same number of pies, how much did each officer spend on buying pies? (there are 6 officers)
8. After having to deal with so many pies in one single day, all the officers became quite sick of pie and decided to boycott eating pie. However, since pie is so irresistible and tempting, they decided that they would not take such drastic measures and decided to reduce the number of pies that they consume each day. After day 1, they will wait a full day before having another. Then they’ll wait two more days, then three, and so on, extending their waiting period by one day each. In how many years (to the nearest year) will they be eating a pie only once every 60 days?
9. The sum of an integer and its square is 6 less than the square of the next greater integer. What is the value of the integer?
10. A fraction is equivalent to 3/5. Its denominator is 60 more than its numerator. What is the numerator of this fraction?

why does everyone keep complaining about crime and punishment??

i actually really like the book....it's rather intriguing..*shrugs*....i have weird tastes in books i guess...it's amazing how much more stuff u pick up once u read it the second time...i don't even remember the first time i read it, all i know is that i didn't get half the stuff that was in there.....too bad we don't have the prof. monas translation tho, i really would have liked to see what that one was like =(

hahah and before i forget:
steve, look what i found online...LOL

lunes, marzo 8

big THANK YOU to christine and nina for helping me out today with the pies....i reaallly needed the help!!!...thanks sooo much for helping me deal with those ppl who were mobbing the table....it was just that one handful of juniors, geez even the SOPHOMORES waited patiently. wtf. anyways, thanks. ^_^
