what do you do when you reach this stage? do you just go on pretending that everything is all right? or do you let the truth come out no matter how hard it may be? and what if you just continuously sit within this cycle and keep on pretending? isn't that what life is all about anyways? pretending that everything is all right when it isn't?

i hate myself sometimes for being so cold.

alrite, haven't posted in a while, due to mostly laziness and stuff. last few weeks have been soooo boring. i still love rice, but it's not that much fun this year with the new people. no offense to anyone though. some highlights: jessica sun came to rice TWICE to visit!!, a "preliminary dance party" in brian's room until we got kicked out by a RUPD officer, walking all the way back from south campus cuz i got too pissed at the metrorail to pay anymore money for it, trying to deduce the synthesis of imiquimod (yea, jesus and karan think i'm weird now), houston symphony concerts, going home and hanging out with my dad, and then lAST night was REALLY fun!!! i love rice and UT ppl more than anyone else from any other college, hands down. i'm taking this from thida's blog since she already describes it better than i ever could =) -->

After bumming around this random house near Rice (and eating some Ethiopian food and cookies and cream ice cream) we headed over to the Miller Theater to see if we could find miss Stephanie Wang. Managed to find her and after much hugging and it's-been-so-long-since-I've-seen-you-last conversation we headed to a coffee shop downtown. The name has slipped my mind, but the ride there was quite an adventure (since Dan was doing such a wonderful job driving). After avoiding several accidents with the lightrail, wrong turns, almost running red lights and a close brush with $15 event parking..we eventually get his car parked and walk over. Nice place...reminds me of Austin (but what coffee shop doesn't?) It was wonderfully dark and close and the air heavy with caffiene. mmmmmm. Enjoyed some iced chai (nifty, eh?) and stole some of Dan's tiramisu and Stephanie's biscotti.

There was this great little band playing live and the conversation and laughs flowed naturally.

Yeah so I haven't been that contented and happy in awhile. And with such a random group at that.

It's just something about music. and driving. and moonroofs. and laughing.

My favorite part of any day/night out is the drive anywhere. Like when all four of us were crammed into Dan's car and he was blasting German music. Or when Apoorva and I were driving home and Mae was blasting.

Ahh yes, I do love blasting music.

*happy sigh* couldn't have described it better. i wish all of college and/or summer was like this.

thida and some other ppl might be staying over at rice one weekend!!ahhh!!! that will be so much fun.

next week taylor (TWOODS!!!!), my favorite caucasian dude (hehehehe....old joke), will be coming to visit, and christine says she might drop by toooo. yay! maan..i miss houston friends so much...

alrite, let's see how long i can get this daily post thing going...so this morning got up a little later than usual so that i could do my strategy for saving money on the metrorail. meaning i'll have to get up earlier tomorrow. so i ran right into the high school kids at the metrorail stop, which was pretty convenient, since they had no idea how to get to HMB. lol it was funny, they REALLY had no idea where they were going, so they literally were just following me, so when we got to HMB, i pointed them into the building and then i went to the front to go wait for the shuttle to south campus, but then one of the kids apparently thought that he was still supposed to be following me, so he actually did. haha. we got that solved tho.

lab today was so exhuasting. i did westerns, and a whole bunch of stuff with cells. and it wasn't even that anything was hard, it just took so much time, and it was like constant working too. wow. but at least there was plenty to learn. i ended up being at lab from like 8:30 am - 8:15 pm.

got back, and went around on the floors to find ppl to talk to. ran into stephen reading a paper on STAT3. and the whole time i was talking to him about that project, i was like, dude STAT3 sounds really familiar, i think that was michelle's project last year. haha and when it finally occurred to me to ask him who his mentor was, it turned out that it WAS the same mentor that michelle had. lol, what a coincidence.

we decided to go floor-hopping and talk to ppl, but there really wasn't anyone to talk to. ended up back on the 6th floor, and talked to jesus (hahhahaha i still can't believe i actually KNOW someone with that name now) for a while, and then other kids joined us. eventually, they decided to go floor hopping again, went out onto the new wing of brown, and then ended up on fifth floor, where we talked to marvin, witnessed the reappearance of myers after having disappeared for an entire three days, finally succeeded in getting christian to say more than one word at a time, and then the high school kids left to go to bed i think. i stayed on for i think several hours talking with marvin and myers. wow it's interesting to see what pops out of ppl's heads when they're tired.

haha alrite, let's see if anythign exciting happens tomorrow

time to finally dust off this thing and re-start it over the summer. actually, i think i'm going to try to update as much as possible this summer.. the kids for the high school program moved in today, and as soon-to-be college freshmen, they're the most social of the bunch in the dorm, so there'll be more ppl to hang out with. i've mostly been hanging with marvin (from plano) and myers (from last summer) which is pretty cool , but it's nice that there's finally more ppl to hang out with..hahaha i still haven't really met any girls yet,cuz all the high school girls are on the 4th floor, and i'm on 7th, with no incentive to go down so many floors. i've met some of the med school girls on my floor though, and they're pretty nice. one of them, michelle, is KOREAN! hAHA. i'm prolly gonna go running with her sometime, that way i'll keep in shape somehow during the summmer.

basically, i'm working at the same lab as i did last summer. Su laboratory! they totally rock. i'm working under Valeria again, which is awesome, since i'm technically continuing on where i left off last summer, so that saves a lot of time in terms of reading papers...and i'm also doing more stuff than last year - pretty exciting stuff. my work day typically spans from about 8:30 am - 7:30 pm, but that's ok with me cuz i like it =).

usually, we just go eat somewhere and hang out after work. mostly been staying within rice village, altho on tuesday, myers, marvin, me, and some med students took this trip to the walmart on westheimer. haha we had a nice trip, looping all the way around on 610 before we finally realized that we were just looping around.

i went home for the weekend, chilled and got more food (food! :D)and happened to arrive back at Rice just when all the high school kids were moving in = craziness. i was amused that a whole lot of them kept introducing themselves to me, thinking that i was in the high school program. that's what i get for being short i guess. lol. they're pretty nice though. i went down to the 6th floor to visit louis, but i ended up talking to nirav and van (from the med program) for a long time (hahah listening to nirav complain about the high school kids was priceless =P)...and then the high school kids actually started coming down the hall and talking to us. looks like just about all the high school guys are on 6th floor. it's interesting how they segregate all the floors. eventually van and nirav left so i talked to the high school guys for a while- pretty cool lot, i'll have to say. finally got to meet stephen, and we both entered into about a 5 minute period of confusion when we couldn't figure out that we were both talking about jenna, since apparently everyone in dallas only knows her as sujin. HAHA. even though jenna forewarned me about that like 2 billion times.

eventually everyone had to go to their own thing, so we all split up....couldn't find anyone around the dorm - all the BME ppl were furiously studying for their anatomy test tomorrow, myers mysteriously disappeared for the weekend, and marvin was no where to be found. walked around for a while, and then ran into stephen again, so i ended up going to jason's deli with him and his roommate, who is named Jesus!!! (said with a spanish accent)..haha....fun times. marvin calls halfway thru dinner trying to figure out where everyone was:

me: "yea i'm at dinner with some of the guys from the high school program, they moved into the floor above you"
marvin: "oh cool, how many of them?"
me: "um, about 8?"
marvin: "you're having dinner with 8 guys?!"
me: "hahaah no, two of them"
marvin: "awww..that's disappointing"

LOL...anyways, on the way back from rice village we found this random dolly so we jumped around and tried to wheel our way back to brown, semi-successfully. then went and talked to marvin and his friend jing (sp?) for a while. marvin hurt his ankle reallly bad playing basketball..hm i hope his ankle gets better soon.

anyways, i'm really tired now. gnite yall.
