finally on spring break and man it ROCKS. so i guess i'll finally update (sorry for not updating daily or whatever...it's just that there's nothing really to blog about on a day-to-day basis. or there is, but i'm just too lazy to blog it)

so i guess spring break officially started last friday after classes ended. i came back and worked desk (more desk hours = more money), and bummed around and cleaned/packed for a while. man packing took a long time, mostly cuz i was trying to figure out where all my books and stuff were. mavis (my roommmmiie) and everyone else left at 4 for new york, and then alex was playing halo the entire night so i ended up talking to phil most of the time. i don't ever remember sleeping that night, i think i was hardcore on trying to pull an all-nighter....alex fell dead asleep..hehe. halo musta taken it all outta him, plus it was a hard week anyways

i gotta admit, there really is no place like texas. or houston. yea, houston. the weather couldn't have been better - it wasn't even that humid! amazing. i stayed at home and SLEPT mostly the first several days and finished basically all my homework of the week by tuesday afternoon. yay! visited my old high school Austin too, on Tuesday. man, i didn't realize how much i missed spanish after talking to Sra. Ramos for a while. definitely gonna pick it up again next semester.

oohhh yea and also went to see "the jacket" with jenna (jenna!). we thought it was a horror movie and were planning on getting the shit scared outta us, but it turned out to be just a really really really insanely, trampoline-style deep movie. very good though, i would definitely recommend watching it, although i'm not sure if it's the type of movie i'd want to watch more than like 2 times.

WEDNESDAY WAS FUCKING AWESOME. i finally went and visited RICE!!!! jenna and i went to istanbul grille for lunch and jamba juice(for old times' sake) and then bummed around rice village for the longest time. lol. i actually went shopping! SHOPPING! man i never go shopping. lol and neither does jenna. when we came back to wiess (her dorm), we ran into who else but niral, meng, and jeff (STINGRAY! STINGRAY!) studying orgo in the commons. finally got to meet the famous menghis khan, who i had heard a lot of interesting stories aboutoo and he's rice/baylor too. NICE. and of course the famous icebreaker "how would you castrate someone?" (AAHAHHA try it, it's a good icebreaker, i promise). oo and also meng ain't nobody's bitch! hahaha

the three of them then went off to watch family guy and play starcraft before going to their orgo test (typical guys...hehehhe) while jenna and i watched stupid hilarious clips of ppl hurting themselves from ebaumsworld.com...oh man, some of them were so funny that we sat there and played them on a loop over and over again. and the badger video! badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger mushroom mushroom! (or england england.

so ebaums took up several hours, and then we went to tapioca cafe and then barnes and nobles (once again, for old times sake. MAN i wish javadi and myers were with us!) we found this streetwise dallas map in barnes and nobles, and jenna started looking for Loop 635, but couldn't find it. so we decided that for the sake of a story, i'd be convinced that Loop 635 does not exist. unless i go visit Dallas and see it with my own eyes. it's ok, jenna doesn't believe in the existence of DART, or the presence of a Freebird's in Dallas. HAHA. looks like we know which places we're hittting up when in Dallas.

met up with jeff and meng at freebird's. man we had some pretty weird conversations...hehe we decided that at jeff's wedding, we're all gonna jump up and go "stingray! stingray!" with the whole hand motions too. and we'll even get the priest/minister to do it too! classic.

back to Rice, went thru Shepherd to visit Apoorva first. haha he was bored as hell working box office at Shepherd so we talked to him for a long time. man, i really miss old friends. dude, apoorva is one of the few close friends i've known since second grade. hooray for spanish majors!

i went off to will rice college to finally go visit stacy before she went to bed. haha she hasn't changed a bit! =)...hehe i love that chick...lol it was funny too, we were talking in the suite below hers cuz there were all these other ppl there, and more ppl kept randomly popping in and we were all talking to each other. and stacy kept trying to introduce me to them, but they didn't hear her cuz she's so tiny and quiet..hehehe...it's funny how long you can talk to other ppl for a long time without even knowing their names...hehe .man Rice ppl are so awesome and nice and EVERYTHING though. sorry MIT....you may be ranked higher as a school and you may eke out more rocket scientists, but your people just can't compare to Rice people at all. haha great now i just unintentionally offended like all of my own school by saying that. but it's ok, cuz MIT ppl have their own great characteristics as well. it's just in terms of different compatibilities.

anyways, wow that was off topic. stacy went back with me to wiess (which is surprisingly close to will rice), then jenna and i decided to watch The Incredibles in the TV room. and damn, do they have a nice TV room. it even rivals some of the TV rooms that i've seen at the fraternities up in boston. we WERE gonna watch The Ring and actually get the shit scared outta us, but meng and niral were busy and couldn't be around....and watching The Ring without any male presence around just didn't seem like a good idea...lol..although apparently meng forgot that jenna and i weren't watchign the ring, so he told niral to go scare me when jenna went out to the bathroom. apparently niral never made it there and fell out of the hammock instead. huh? haha.

then for the best part...TRAMPOLINE CONVERSATIONS...hahaah we were so outta shape and got outta breath jumping on the trampoline so quickly. kept up the tradition of talking until 4 in the morning (YEA! long live m.d. anderson). then meng and niral (still up doing work) wanted to go to taco cabana, so we went upstairs and talked to them for a while. man DEEP thoughts. we made the life-changing discovery that your first, gut-instinct answer to the question "how would you castrate someone?" actually tells you a lot about your personality. i'm serious! you could prolly write a book on it and get a lot of money off of it too. or get like mega-money from NIH as grant funding for research...hehehe yea we're nerds.

i think about Rice so often though. wondering if i could have been happier there, and i know that i would definitely be happier at Rice than at MIT. i don't know, i really do just fit into the Rice environment better...or so i feel. now that i've been here at MIT for almost a year though, i don't think i'd be able to leave. plus i've met people at MIT who i would definitely never regret meeting, and there are many ppl here who i would miss a LOT if i were to leave. funny how life works, isn't it? i always think that certain events happen at certain points in your life to affect the direction in which it flows, and to teach you certain life lessons. the people you meet affects that, too. i've said it a hundred times and i'll say it again -- it's only because of the people that i met at MIT the first semester that kept me going. and now that i think back on it, it's the only thing that's kept me here. seriously. class-wise, i was pretty disappointed in the quality of the teaching and the lectures here (surprise, hm?)...and still slightly am. i understand that the curriculum is set this way on purpose, and i respect that though. so that kinda puts me at conflicts with myself in terms of how i view MIT. long story short, MIT did not impress me at all first semester. second semester, it's gotten a lot better though. i wonder if i'll ever learn to love this place like i love Rice. i was once told that i might as well learn to like it here at MIT or else i'll be miserable for 4 years. very true, and very wise. i've since taken those words to heart and i'm learning to like this place bit by bit. it's hard. harder for me than it is for most ppl here, since they came to this school already in love with it. but we'll see. we'll see. oh man i think i'm rambling again, i don't really know what i was talking about, maybe it will make more sense if i read it again later.

anyways, have a great spring break yall. take everything i said in this post with a grain of salt, if you wish to interpret it that way =)
