i wish this summer would never end.

i had the best time with the kids in the high school program this weekend. brian has a beach house out in galveston, so on saturday, we all packed into three cars and drove to galveston. so sad that zach and nathan went off to wymer, and valentina and mandy stayed behind, it would have been better with them too. jason and i had some interesting conversations on the car drive there..but man it was SO much fun, i don't think anyone really remembered what happened. brian, stephen, jennifer, alex, and i went out to the beach first to attempt to body surf in the meager waters of galveston. i walked around by myself for a while (solitude is good), and then joined up with the rest of them to watch jesus and beth futilely try to fly the kite that jesus made. altho beth is pretty good at flying kites and managed to get it to stay up in the air for more than 8 seconds =). we finally went back to the resort so that we could go out to dinner to a place called benno's. it was pretty good for a good seafood price. they had these red and white checkered tablecloths, and also red marinara sauce and white tartar sauce, so jason and jennifer played checkers on the table for a while. HAHA. then back to the resort again, and THAT was so crazily awesome. i won't go into details, but it was DAMN fun, despite some not-so-good incidents. it's weird though, how sometimes the smallest things can seem the most fun though. the whole weekend was awesome, but for some reason, i think i had the most fun when on sunday morning we were waking up, and jason and brian and i were just lying around in the huge bed just talking about random things - and then jesus, stephen, and angie joined us too, and we kept on talking until stephen finally fell asleep. it was so funny watching stephen sleep - his cheeks keep puffing in and out. lol. the rest of them finally woke up later, and we sat around for a while talking and laughing like crazy about the previous night. i won't be forgetting that for a while. I LOVE THESE KIDS. most of them left around 11 am or so, while brian, jason, and i stayed behind to clean up the rest of the condo. we've decided that we're gonna start a cleaning company cuz we ROCK at cleaning.hehe. drove back to houston again with jason and allie. ah man. good times.

thinking about this past weekend, i get so sad sometimes, because it wasn't until this last weekend did i finally feel that i bonded with these people. i wish i had spent more time with them earlier. in some aspects, this summer was worse than last year, but in other aspects, it rocks. completely. if we had done this trip in june or so, the entire summer could have been entirely different. but now it's too late and we're leaving next saturday. is it going to be like this for me for everything? i started off this summer being all bummed out about how it wasn't as awesome, and now i totally love it. will it be like this for college too? will i not love MIT until my senior year when it's too late?

we only live once, so live it up and don't look back with regrets.

fun week at lab, although tiring....sometimes i don't know why i work so hard, but it's worth it...maybe life is meant to always be like this for me, although i like it, so i guess that works for me =)

friday night was..umm..interesting. HAHAHAHA. afterwards i got jesus a strawberry cheesecake cuz i rEALLY owe that kid. hahah he made sure i didn't kill myself. zach made a 3 minute video of it so if anyone REALLY wants to know about friday night, go ask him for the video =P

saturday - not too much happened, went to lab and ended up falling asleep back at the dorm really early

sunday - dad came to rice to visit, and we went to croissant-brioche (if any of the rice kiddos are reading this - yall gotta go there sometime! it's an awesome cafe place)...went back and hung out with jason, zach, valentina, mandy, and atlee for a while in jason's room. zach and jason got this wonderful idea to start doing pushups, so i offered to do the wheelbarrow pushups, which was really stupid, cuz the way they were holding on to my legs, my jeans almost got pulled off. LOL. ohhh and in the tradition of last summer, we threw plenty of bananas and potatoes and other various assortments of items out the window from the 6th floor. and then TAG on the 6th floor! lol so much fun. we also did foot wrestling, but that ended bad cuz someone i managed to pop one of zach's toes =(. i hope he'll be alright.

back to work tomororw. this summer isn't bad at all after all =)

but anyways, highlights of this week -->

-christine and thida came over! it was pretty random and all the talking was helpful too....the only bad things were the biscuits and the parking ticket (i hate RUPD)...ohhh and christine can play on my violin 1)twinkle twinkle little star, 2)star wars, and 3)minuet in G....the puerto ricans next door weren't too happy about that so they started pounding on the wall HAHA...but other than that, it was super fun...thanks for driving all the way up here
- my lab went out to lunch at this random chinese buffet. seriously , you'd think that my lab would know better than to go to lunch at generic chinese buffets, since the majority of my lab is from china. but oh well, they seemed to like it. and we got free bubble tea! yea, since bing hasn't been in lab, we've had so much more free time =)...but some of the post-docs and grad students (with the exception of valeria, who is italian, and therefore rocks) haven't been coming in on time which slightly annoys me, cuz then i have to stay later as well, since some of my projects overlap with their. but anyways.
- who knew that going into lab on a saturday could be so fun? i had originally planned to go in on saturday only cuz my parents were gonna pick me up in the afternoon anyways, but valeria was there too, and so was riccardo (visiting student from italy), so we had coffee and talked for the longest time. and right when we were like ok, maybe we should get to work, adriano (valeria's fiancee, who works at baylor) called to see if we wanted to go to an indian buffet for lunch with other italian ppl and spanish ppl too....THAT was fun...lots of texas-bashing by the italians, but it was hilarious, so they're the only ones who are excused from doing that =P.
- fourth of july picnic with my family and godparents...man it's so HOT in houston...i was out there from 8 am till 2pm since my dad wanted to get there early to reserve a barbeque grill..but it was fun nevertheless

back to work tomorrow...i love lab! if only life was always like this. i really really like living like this, by myself and stuff, but with friends close by. can't wait till med/grad school and then maybe jenna and i can be roomies if we both end up in houston again! yay!
