it's done!

my senior recital was tonight, and maan, was it pretty nice......THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO CAME!!!!..it was AMAZING how much terrific support i got!!....yall seriously made this night AWESOME for me....and major thanks to my parents too, who spent sooo much time organizing this recital too..so here's a basic overview:

got to duncan at 6:30, thinking that i was late, but the mr. shanks was still tuning the piano...or something...btw, i LOVE that steinway...vladimir horowitz played on it, and his signature is on it too!! o_O!!!..apparently it has a name too, "vlodya" (or however it's suposed to be spelled)

(ok...before i go on....i haven't written a discursive blog in such a long time that i'm outta practice, so that's why this may sound a little disjointed)

i was getting really really nervous before i went on stage at 7:30...my hands, surprisintly weren't cold or anythign tho, but i was literally shaking when i walked out though....the beethoven ROCKED though, i must say, despite being nervous - the weird thing was that after i played like one line of it, i wasn't nervous anymore...weird, but hey, works for me..lol..bach was a little shaky in some parts, but went pretty well overall....

after i played both pieces for violin though, i started gettign really nervous and started shaking again backstage, for no apparant reason...i talked to the stage manager(marina) for a little bit backstage...pretty neat person actually ..she's a third year graduate student who plays cello at rice, and the best part is - she's from SPAIN!!!..hahaha...anyways, so when intermission time is up, she starts to turn down the house lights, and USUALLY when that happens, the audience is supposed to get quiet. the audience didn't get quiet...lol..and then i walked out on stage when ppl were still running to their seats....

first piano piece = schubert variations impromptu...went better than i expected....and then córdoba!!!!..damn, that is one heck of a cool piece..especially since the name is an esdrújulo..HAHA u get it? góngora, who had an obsession with esdrújulos, was born in córdoba, which is also an esdrújulo..hahaha how balla is that...i wanted to mention it and give a shout out to my spanish class while i was at it (YEAA!!.."blasssiillloo"..hahah) but that wouldn't have looked very professional so i decided against it....the elégie - oh maaan i don't know WHAT happened but i totally blanked out on the same two measures thruou the entire piece...most ppl didn't notice it tho, so yaaay i guess it covered it up pretty well....and the last piece, the ballade - ahh, what a gorgeous piece...i had my beautiful moments, but i got more nervous as the piece went on...overall,tho, the ballade was pretty effective...as was the entire concert.....i may not have done completely optimally , but overall, i walked away from it happy and satisfied...^_^

after the recital...mAANN....i was shocked and stunned and sooo happy when i saw ALL the people there....i couldn't even carry all the flowers that yall gave me!!..not to mention all the awesome gifts that i got from so many ppl...THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!...i saw sooo many ppl there tho...(in approximate order that i saw them in): grace, alice, eugenia, sra. ramos and her husband, cyndy, myndy, jackie, jon (a LOT Of ppl from jireh showed up!!..yea yall ROCK!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^), brandy, steve, jessie, jessica, kelley, carol, carol's mom and two grandmothers, will, ray, apoorva, johann, ryan, troy, heather, troy's dad,stacy, sridevi, cassy, mrs. baevich, mrs. glenn, evan, james (he actually made it! yay!), ronald (same goes for him!), alyssa, jenny, jessica zhu, greg, punag, colin (he made it too!!!!), joel, jace, jake (haha my mom got them two confused), thida, darian, rebecca..that's all i can remember right now, but i hope i didn't leave anyone out!...oh and my parents invited a lot of ppl that i didnt really know, a lot of adults came...oh maan it was just terrific....thanks too, to the ppl who came but had to leave early (eric, roshni,krupa, sarah, etc...)!...i was disappointed that taylor had to leave early, tho cuz i haven't seen that kid in like forever,but apparently he met troy and left me a message thru troy.lol..and then i got home and found that taylor had left me an awesome message on the answering machine..yea!! TWWOOODZZ!!!..=P

so that was my night..MANY MANY MANY thanks once again to everyone who made it...what a great way to end senior year!!..now it's parties and banquets and graduation for a week, before i'm off to rice for the summer!!!
